Careers at Lucid Networks

We are a technically led business, working with software and hardware from commercial vendors and Open Source projects alike.

We’re looking for enthusiastic, motivated people who want to contribute to our customers’ success by using technology to solve interesting (and sometimes difficult!) problems.

Working at Lucid

We encourage our whole team to get as much exposure to these exciting technologies as possible – by contributing to projects, taking on new responsibility and using technology to solve problems and automate boring, repetitive or time consuming parts of your work.

Our customers’ systems are critical to their businesses and you will be given a high level of autonomy to help them and to contribute to their success as well as contributing to the growth of Lucid in this exciting phase of our journey.

We have an open and inclusive environment that encourages learning, sharing and individual development. We will support you and your professional development with training & certification, including a mixture of in-house courses, and those offered by well known vendors or providers including Cisco, LPIC and Microsoft. We also ensure that you get time in the right environment (including away from the office) to complete your training and certification.

We approach everything with automation on our mind, so you’ll be encouraged to identify opportunities to automate problems away; you’ll collaborate with colleagues to actively develop solutions which continually improve technology within our own and our customers’ businesses.

We also actively encourage and pay for you to attend conferences and industry events, both in the UK and internationally including Config Management Camp, DevOps Days, IPExpo, UKNOF and others.

All of our staff are eligible for the following, and more:

The recruitment process

Your interview will be undertaken by your hiring manager, and at least one other person, who will always be one of our Directors & founders. The whole process usually takes 2-3 weeks from receiving your CV to making you an offer.

Send in your CV by e-mail to [email protected] making clear which vacancy you are applying for.

You will need to be legally permitted to live and work in the United Kingdom – please confirm this when you apply.

Please send us copies of any professional certifications gained in the last 2 years – we will ask for these. If you don’t have the actual certificates, links to the verification page(s) on the awarding body’s website are acceptable.

First interview – at our Manchester or Edinburgh offices. This will include:

  • More detail about the role you’re applying for and about working with us
  • Your work or academic history and achievements
  • Your questions about the role or our company.
  • No practical test or assessment.
  • For technical roles, expect some technical questions to assess your skill levels in the areas you’ve mentioned on your CV, or are relevant to the role you’re applying for.

We aim to be flexible when arranging interviews, and we will always try our best to work around any family, childcare or personal commitments to arrange a suitable date and time, but please do let us know about these as soon as you can.

If you have a disability or any special access requirements, please let us know as soon as possible so we can work to accommodate these.

Second interview – at our Manchester or Edinburgh offices.

  • More detailed discussion of your recent relevant work or academic history.
  • A practical assessment of your skills relevant to the position you’re applying for. Details will vary from role to role and you will be given full details and time to prepare along with your invitation to second interview.

Offer and references

  • Following second interview we will make an offer of employment to the successful candidate(s).
  • Our offer will be subject to being able to take up two satisfactory written references.
  • One reference must be from your last direct line manager, college or university tutor or other senior staff member to whom you reported directly.
  • We will never contact your references unless you accept our offer of employment.
